What are the options for IV Therapy for Cancer treatment?
High-Dose Intravenous Vitamin C
Vitamin C (IVC) may work in killing cancer (chemotherapeutic action):
- Increased production of hydrogen peroxide production (pro-oxidant)
- Anti-angiogenesis (stop the blood supply that feeds cancer)
- Immune system support (interferon, interleukin, etc.)
Safety of Intravenous Vitamin C
A 2010 study evaluating the use of vitamin C amongst practitioners revealed, after calculating over 750,000 yearly sales and estimated yearly doses of over 350,000 in 2008, and after evaluating over 9,000 patients, only minor side-effects were noted that included lethargy/fatigue, change in mental status, and vein irritation. Clinically, if these effects occur they are temporary and easily corrected.
Vitamin K3 may be given along with the infusion of vitamin C to increase the effectiveness of the therapy on cancer cells. It acts as a catalyst which can help transfer electrons from the vitamin C in order to make more reactive oxygen species which is toxic to cancer cells.
IV Ozone Therapy
Ozone (O3) is comprised of three oxygen atoms, whereas oxygen (O2) is made of only two oxygen atoms. When ozone molecules come in contact with your cells, the third oxygen atom essentially bonds to your cells to improve these 4 primary effects: Increase in oxygen efficiency, stimulates immune modulation, improve microcirculation and encourages natural detox. Cancer cells thrive and in anaerobic environment (without oxygen). Ozone supplies extra oxygen can also reduce cancer cells, because cancer doesn’t like oxygen and doesn’t thrive in an oxygenated environment.
Hyperthermia (also called thermal therapy or thermotherapy) is a type of cancer treatment in which body tissue is exposed to high temperatures (up to 113°F). Research has shown that high temperatures can damage and kill cancer cells, usually with minimal injury to normal tissues. By killing cancer cells and damaging proteins and structures within cells hyperthermia may shrink tumors.

IV Therapy for Cancer FAQ
What is the benefit of taking vitamin C by IV infusion instead of taking it in a pill?
When vitamin C is given by IV infusion, it can reach a higher concentration in the blood than it can when you take it by mouth in a pill form. This allows for a therapeutic dose to be achieved, where it can have a greater benefit in the body.
Is high-dose intravenous vitamin C therapy safe?
In clinical trials, high-dose IV vitamin C therapy resulted in very few side effects, including fatigue, change in mental status, and vein irritation which are temporary and easily reversed. For people with certain risk factors, studies did show that high-dose vitamin C therapy may be harmful. These risk factors included:
- Patients with a history of kidney disease are more likely to develop kidney stones and shouldn’t be treated with high-dose vitamin C therapy.
- Patients with an inherited G6PD deficiency order may develop hemolysis, a condition in which red blood cells are destroyed.
- Patients with hemochromatosis are not recommended for high-dose vitamin C therapy since it makes iron more easily absorbed.
Is IV ozone therapy effective for cancer patients?
Research on IV ozone therapy for cancer has suggested that the therapy can help fight cancer by boosting the immune system response, increasing the production of cancer-fighting compounds in the body, and improving oxygen deficits in the body.
