What is the benefit of taking vitamin C by IV infusion instead of taking it in a pill?
When vitamin C is given by IV infusion, it can reach a higher concentration in the blood than it can when you take it by mouth in a pill form. This allows for a therapeutic dose to be achieved, where it can have a greater benefit in the body.
Is high-dose intravenous vitamin C therapy safe?

For people with certain risk factors, studies did show that high-dose vitamin C therapy may be harmful. These risk factors included:
- Patients with a history of kidney disease are more likely to develop kidney stones and shouldn’t be treated with high-dose vitamin C therapy.
- Patients with an inherited G6PD deficiency order may develop hemolysis, a condition in which red blood cells are destroyed.
- Patients with hemochromatosis are not recommended for high-dose vitamin C therapy since it makes iron more easily absorbed.
